HOW TO CHOP ONIONS TO AVOID TEARS FROM YOUR EYES

In this experiment you will learn how to chop an onion to avoid tears from the eyes!


Materials:
Water 
Onion
Knife
A bowl

Instructions

Fill the bowl with water.

Now chop the onion inside the bowl filled with water.

Do your eyes water?

 What happens?

Onions have some oil (known as onion oil) inside them when chopped, sliced or squeezed the oil is given out through the air in form of gas which make tears come out from your eyes or make them burn!!

When you chop the onion in the water as the gas can only be given out through air the oil remains in water.

Caution: Chopping onions shall be done under ADULT SUPERVISION
