PROVING AIR NEEDS SPACE

In this experiment you are going to prove that air needs space.
Materials

Some wool or some paper
1glass
1bowl
Water

Instructions
Fill the bowl with water.
Now put the wool or paper in the glass and make sure it does not fall when turned upside down.
Now put the glass upside down and put it in the water. Make sure you do not tilt the glass. NO air bubbles are formed.
Now take the glass out. What do you observe? Is the wool wet?

What Happend?
When you put the glass into the water the glass is full of air. When you put the glass in the water the air does not allows the water to get in and the wool is dry. But if you tilt the glass the air in the glass escapes in the water and does air bubbles are formed. The water then enters the glass and makes the wool wet.
Thus we can prove air needs space.
