TO SHOW THE PRESENCE OF CARBON-DIOXIDE WHEN WE BREATHE OUT AIR OUT (EXHALE)

Let's see which gas do we breathe out (exhale).

Materials:
Lime water
Straw
Glass

Instructions

Pour some lime water into the glass.
Now put the straw into the lime water. Then blow into it.

Observe: The lime water turns milky showing the presence of carbon-dioxide!!!

TO FIND OUT THE CONTENTS OF SAND!!

In this experiment you will see the contents of soil!!

Materials:
Sand from a different place (These are your samples)
Water
Test tubes

Instructions
Put sand in each test tube (Different kinds of soil)
Now put water in each test tube.

Observe: The contents of the soil settle in layer. The heavier at the last and the lighter at the top.

TO PROVE WATER IS TRANSFERRED TO ALL BODY PARTS OF A PLANT BY THE VEINS OF THE STEM!!!

Let's see which part of the plant is used to prove water??

Materials:

Water
Food colouring
1plastic cup

Instructions
Put some water into the plastic glass.
Now put a few drops of colouring into it.
Put the carnation stem into the water; don’t let the flowers touch the water. After a few minutes observe what has happened to the flowers.

Observe:  The flowers change its colour to the colour of the food colour you had put in water!! HOW? The stem has transported the water to the entire plants! You don’t believe? Then cut the stem of the carnation and observe that there are coloured spots (the food colour you had chosen!) on the surface of the cut stem. Those are veins of the stem! Now you have enough proof to prove to prove water is transferred to all the parts of the body of a plant by the veins of the stem!!

MAKING A TORNADO IN A BOTTLE!!

Let’s make a tornado in a bottle!!

Materials:
2 empty 1 litter plastic water bottles
Water

INSTRUCTIONS

Fill the one bottle with two-third of water.

Now take the caps off, of both the bottles.

Keep the empty bottle’s neck on top of the bottle that contains water.

Secure both the bottles with duct tape. To prevent leakage use as much as tape as you want.

Now keep moving the bottles up and down.

Observe: At the top bottle a small vortex will be formed!!

SEPARATING IRON FILLINGS FROM SAND!

Let's see how to separate iron fillings from sand!

Materials:
Magnet
A small bowl
Iron filling
Sand

INSTRUCTIONS
Pour some sand into the bowl.
Now add some iron fillings and mix properly.
Now keep the mix the mixture again by using the magnet. Take the magnet out. What do you observe??

Observe: The iron fillings are stuck to the magnet!!

HOW DOES THIS HAPPENS??
The magnet attracts the iron filling. This is how the iron filling gets stuck to the magnet! This is the best method of separating iron filling with any other thing that does not attracts with magnet!!

MAKING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS!!!

In this experiment you will make two musical instruments - Guitar and piano!!!

FOR THE GUITAR-

Materials:
 1shoe box

1scissors
A few rubber bands
Tape
Paints [optional]

INSTRUCTIONS
With the help of the tape stick the lid of the shoebox with the container firmly.

Now cut the middle part of one side of the circle.

Now attach the rubber bands to the shoe box

[This step is optional] Now paint your guitar. Here your guitar is ready!!

Now play your guitar as you want. REMEMBER THIS GUITAR DOES NOT WORKS LIKE A REAL GUITAR BUT CAN BE USED FOR PLAYING!!

Concept between the guitar??
The noise is caused due to vibration. The vibration is caused when you play the guitar

For the piano-

Materials:

5to 10 glasses
A spoon
Water

INSTRUCTIONS
Set the glasses on the table in a horizontal line and fill the glasses with water. The glasses should have different volume (amount) of water.

Now lightly run the spoon on the glasses and there would be a melodious tune!!!!

TO PROVE THE PRESENCE OF AIR IN SOIL

Let's see if soil has air!!!

Materials:
Soil
Beaker
Water
Spoon or glass rod

INSTRUCTIONS

Put some soil into the beaker.
Now add some water to it and then stir the mixture with the help of spoon and glass rod.

Observe: You will observe that the mixture gives out some air bubbles. This proves the presence of air in the soil

HOW TO MEASURE A CURVE LINE????

Let's see "How To Measure A Curve Line??"

Materials:
A thread
A paper that has a curved line drew on it.
Scissors
A 30cm scale

INSTRUCTIONS
Trace the curve line with the thread from the starting of the line.
Cut the thread when it reaches the the end of the line.
Now stretch the thread and place the starting of the thread at the 0 mark on the scale. Read the point where the thread reaches it's end. That is the length of the LINE!!!!

HOW TO MAKE A SPY-SCOPE???

Let's make a spy-scope!! A spy-scope works like a mini telescope. It is very easy to carry anywhere!!

Materials:
2 magnifying glasses

INSTRUCTIONS
Hold the each magnifying glass in one hand and line them up.
Now focus them on an object which is a bit far away. You may have to rotate the magnifying glasses or move them forth or back.

Observe: The object comes in focus but will be upside down! Why?The object your eyes retina see's is also upside down!! But the brain flips it back to it original position!Your spy-scope works like your eye but is not able to turn them as they don't have a brain!!!!

TESTING AN OBJECT TO KNOW IS THE OBJECT A CONDUCTOR OF ELECTRICITY OR NOT

Materials:
1bulb
Copper wire
1battery
1Scissors
Some objects [metal, wood etc]

INSTRUCTIONS
Built a circuit using bulb, battery, copper wire, scissors [for cutting] connect the battery to the wire, connect the other end to the bulb, connect one more wire to the other end of the bulb. Leave the end of the other wire open.Connect a wire to the battery but don't let the end of this wire touch the end of the wire connecting to the bulb. This will be the gap.

Now place your object in the gap of the wires.

If the bulb lights up this mean it is a conductor of electricity. If the bulb does not lights up it is not a good conductor of electricity.

CAUTION DO NOT TEST ANY LIQUID ITEM. USE 1.5 VOLTS BATTERY.

PLAYING WITH STATIC ELECTRICITY!!!

Have you all heard about static electricity? Well, now lets have some FUN WITH STATIC ELECTRICITY!!

Materials:
A comb
A tap

INSTRUCTIONS
Comb your hair normally as you do everyday.
Just after you have done combing, run the tap and put the comb near the water.

Observe: The water will move away from the comb. When you comb your hair you charge the comb with static electricity. Static electricity is caused during friction!

HOW TO MAKE A MAGNET?

Let's make a small magnet. This magnet won't be so powerful but will be able to attract staple pins.

Materials:
A few sewing needles
1bar magnet (You can use any magnet but for the best results use a bar magnet!)
A few used staple pins

INSTRUCTIONS
Strike a few sewing needles on the bar magnet at least 50 times.
After striking put the sewing needles above the staple pins. What happens?

WHAT IS HAPPENING??
When you strike the sewing needles on the magnet you are MAGNETIZING  the sewing needles. The sewing needles act like a small magnet that attract the staple pins!!!

IN WHICH WATER DOES MOLECULES MOVE FASTER??

Let's see in which water does the molecules move faster-
"cold water or hot water?"

Materials:
Cold water
Hot water
Food colour
Trasperent glasses

INSTRUCTIONS
Pour the both samples of water in each glass.
Add two-three drops of food colouring to the samples.

Observation: You will observe that the food colour in cold water spreads slowly compared to the hot water. Hence molecules in cold water move slower than the hot water!
